So without further ado, here are a few of the top attractions in Inverness near our Achnagairn estate!
Okay, so this isn’t exactly an ancient castle or a miraculous museum but cycling can be loads of fun. Especially in light of the stunning world-class scenery of the Scottish Highlands! It’s something you can do with the kids, something you can do for a romantic weekend, or even if you’re on business it’s great for team-building!
Again, not a castle or a museum, but the botanic gardens has just as much to offer you as the typical cultural attractions. Why just look at a painting or century old drapes when you can see something beautiful and smell it at the same time? The botanic gardens have so much to offer, with local plants and areas with plants from other corners of the globe! Not only is it a nice place to go see pretty flowers and smell the parfum of the room, but it’s a learning experience too, you can learn about different plants, where they grow and in what conditions they thrive in! A brilliant day out for all the family.
There are two different tours you can take here, and despite the idea of it being an alcohol distillery, there is a tour for those under the age of 18, so long as their parents accompany them.
The first tour is the Legacy tour. On this educational tour, you’ll learn about the notable legacy of Tomatin. At the end of the tour you will be able to try three different single malts made at the distillery and then you may finally realize why they say Inverness is “The softer side of the Highlands”. This tour is suitable for minors.
The second tour is the taste of Tomatin tour. On this tour you will learn all about the whiskies produced at Tomatin Distillery and at the end of the tour you get to try six of the distillery whiskies including two of the distillery’s choice single cask expressions.
Everybody loves a good wander around a museum. The museum is host to many exhibitions, lectures, workshops and events throughout the year.
With a rich history and culture on show you won’t regret popping into the museum and art gallery even for a brief look.
Of course, this is merely a few of the top attractions Inverness has to offer. With endless possibilities of white water rafting, dolphin tours and even trips away to beautiful sandy beaches, only one thing’s for sure – you’ll need the best sleep possible to rest up your weary feet at the end of the day.
