People sometimes ask us: “what exactly is a Mini Manor?” Good question. It is a rather lovely large property with 5 or 6 bedrooms. We have 7 of them - all situated in the grounds of Achnagairn Estate. We call them Mini Manors because no other description quite fits. They are too large to be lodges, too contemporary to be cottages and too Scottish to be villas. They make the perfect spot for a getaway with family or friends. We also have two other properties on the estate: The Cottage, sleeping two people in a cosy space, and Wildwood - sleeping up to six people.
You couldn't find a more perfect place to get together with family and friends, or just enjoy the Highlands!
You can hire an entire Mini Manor on an exclusive use basis (5-6 bedrooms – sleeping up to 12 guests). Explore each of the different unique Manors below, and get in touch to book your favourite.
Or, if you are looking for a setting for a large group, you can book multiple of our 7 Mini Manors exclusively, and even consider taking the castle as well for exclusive use of the whole estate.
The solution to a family holiday conundrum. You know the situation — you want to go away with a group of family or friends, but you don’t want to be scattered over countless hotel rooms. You want all your home comforts — but in an environment that’s a bit more . . . special. And that’s where Mini Manors come in...

Each of our Mini Manors has been refurbished to a 5* standard: some are traditional but most modern. Each has its own theme; added to which every bedroom has a unique name, identity and atmosphere. You can book an individual Mini Manor, or take multiple. Please note that we always try to accommodate your preference on Mini Manor, but sometimes will need to allocate you a different five or six-bedroom Mini Manor depending on availability. Explore them all below:
This Mini Manor's theme is a tongue-in-cheek look at all that is Scottish. From stags on the walls to our treasured writers on the bookshelves, this Mini Manor steers away from the overwhelming amounts of tartan and fusty decor and instead has a fresh and clean cut but yet undeniably Scottish feel. It has 5 ensuite bedrooms.
This 6 bedroomed Mini Manor is one where we have truly gone to town with every bedroom! As you would expect from the name, each room is based on a book or collection - of poems or songs or films. We have the extraordinary 1001 Nights and the stunning “Three men in a boat” where we even went to the extent of having a boat-maker build one into the walls!
A 6 bedroom Mini Manor. For centuries, there has been a special understanding between the Scots and the French and this Mini Manor pays homage to that relationship. From the billowing “tricolore” flag on the staircase, to the map of the capital in the Paris room, no detail is overlooked in this French theme.
'Time flies', particularly when you are having fun. Each of the large bedrooms in this 5 bedroom Mini Manor has something to do with the passage of time. Some of the rooms have terrible puns in their title such as Hare Today, Gone Tomorrow (sorry!), Knight Knight…
In Life’s Pleasures, we have picked all the things we enjoy and named a bedroom after each - eg Sea Breeze, Art, Classical beauty (one of our favourites - there’s even a bath in the huge bedroom!). There are 5 bedrooms in total.
With 6 bedrooms, this Mini Manor takes as its theme the idea of music and each room is named after a song. Each song is very different - from UB40’s Red Red Wine, through to iconic “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” sung breathlessly by Marilyn Monroe in “Gentlemen prefer Blondes”.
Stag is a little different from the other Mini Manors. As we do have so many weddings in the Castle, we find that this Mini Manor is perfect for the groom and ushers to stay the night before. It has a pool table, an outrageous lamp featuring nymphs (all in perfect taste of course!) and even a James Bond room! It has 5 bedrooms of which two share a bathroom. But goodness, what a bathroom! Mega-bath doesn’t even start to describe it.
