The reception rooms at Achnagairn Castle are entirely unique. Following our ethos, each room has been designed to “Escape the Ordinary”. What that means in practice is that each is entirely different from the next (although of course together they form a harmonious whole!). The original features also make for beautiful settings: from the long staircase in the hall, to the wood panelling across the castle, the original décor is exceptional.
The Champagne room is your welcome to the castle. Filled with Scottish art and deep, leather sofas, it is a special and inviting welcome. Open the French windows to the grounds and on a beautiful sunny day watch your guests spill out onto the terraces to see the glorious views.
If you or your guests are more traditionally minded, The Savoy Room may be the ideal reception space for you. Here we have a much more Scottish feel, with drapes and swags which have a hint of tartan. This room takes its name from the Savoy hotel which closed for refurbishment just as we were furnishing Achnagairn. As a result, so many of the beautiful traditional pieces of furniture hail from this renowned hotel. Of particular note is the chandelier in the centre of the room which once hung proudly in the Savoy’s ballroom in London!
This large drawing room has a triple aspect, with each of its large windows looking on to the gardens. Some guests adore the spaciousness, others like the fact that despite the size of the room, there is a fabulous small “snug” in the corner, so if you prefer a cosy atmosphere to a grand one, then hide away here for a wee dram of whisky as you unwind. Wherever you choose, there is always a roaring fire to greet you.
We also have a wood panelled dining room that is often also used for breakfast. With its elegant dimensions, this room is also ideal for a break-out room for corporates or a fabulous dining area for a more intimate group.
Achnagairn is fully licensed and the bar has all you would expect, including a multitude of whiskies. Our barman loves to create bespoke cocktails that always go down a treat.
The original features in Achnagairn Castle are extraordinary, and particularly the wood panelling that adorns the walls and the sweeping staircase through the house. The hallways and staircase are beautiful focal points for guests.
