There’s a variety of different activities that are sure to captivate young and old visitors alike, read on to learn more things to do over the February half term break.
One of the most popular and well known staples of Scottish folklore and culture, Loch Ness is a must-see for anyone exploring the gorgeous Scottish Highlands. Notable for its depth, massive amount of water and mystery, Loch Ness attracts visitors from all over the world – did we forget to mention the monster that might or might not lurk in the water?
Explore the Loch on a cruise, Jacobite offers day-long trips out on the waves with the option to visit Urquhart Castle and the Loch Ness Monster Exhibition – perfect for learning a little history, or entertaining the kids with stories of Nessie.
Maybe you’re afraid of monsters or just the water itself – well, have no fear, our Achnagairn Castle lodges location is only seven miles from the Inverness city centre and not a mile from there, the Titanic Maritime Museum. With free access, the Museum boasts an impressive collection of large model ships and a 1:10 scale model of the Titanic itself. The Museum was opened on the 10th of April, 2012 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Titanic’s trip.
Most of the replica boats are freely available to be wandering into: including a replica submarine and the truly adventurous can try on a survival suit, you’re even challenged to see how fast you can do it!
Our seven luxury lodges are in the ideal location, close to Inverness and the Loch, closer still to our Achnagairn Castle. While you’re enjoying your stay in the Highlands, take the chance to explore the Castle itself – that is, if nobody’s hired it!
The grounds are expansive, with a gorgeous garden and plenty of room for walking if you feel like kicking back and relaxing for a day in the comfort of your home away from home.
