Last month we were delighted to be featured in the tourism board’s list of top mini-moon destinations for couples looking to round off their wedding celebrations in bonnie Scotland.
What makes us quite so romantic, you may ask? Well, let us tell you…

1. Our breath-taking ballroom
The jewel in Achnagairn’s crown has hosted more weddings, heard more ‘I love you’s, and witnessed more loving glances than any other part of the castle. Dating back to 1912, our ballroom is the richly romantic epicentre of everything we do here at Achnagairn. The historical vaulted ceilings, stunning fireplace and ornate wood panelling make it the perfect setting for romance, even if we do say so ourselves.
2. Our gorgeous grounds
Lush and sprawling, our gardens are utterly romantic. Featuring an elegantly manicured maze and glorious stone archway, the ornamental features are offset by a surrounding of tall, ancient trees that make the grounds feel totally removed from the outside world. You won’t have to listen hard to hear the birdsong through the branches as you’re walking arm-in-arm through the estate.
3. Our astounding accommodation
Achnagairn Estate boasts a host of truly unique bedrooms, with 24 in our castle and a further 38 in our luxury Mini Manors, just a stone’s throw away from the main castle building. What makes these bedrooms quite so romantic is their theming – each one is totally individual, just like the couples who reside there, and furnished in the most sumptuous fashion. From Regency era chairs to four-poster beds, they’re the perfect place to retire to after a romance-filled day.
4. Our delectable dining
Our on-site restaurant, Table Manors, is just the place for couples looking for an intimate dining experience. Sitting in our beautifully unique dining room, you can start off the evening with a bespoke cocktail, prepared for you by our exceptional bar staff. Glance over the menu and you’ll quickly see that our double AA-rosette awarded chefs are creative visionaries, concocting the most delicious menus from fine local produce. Work your way through each course (with our perfectly paired wine list), before rounding off your meal with a world-class dessert. If the best way to your heart is through your stomach, it’s sure to delight.
5. Our heart-warming history
From our owners, wonderful husband-and-wife team Gillian and Mike, to our recent starring role in the American series The Bachelorette, we’ve been home to lovers since we first opened our doors.
