Looking for a taste of the local wildlife? They say there’s no better way than to jump in at the deep end and you’d be doing just that with a dolphin tour day during your stay at Perfect Retreats. Located in a wildlife hot spot, the local area is teeming with fantastic dolphin tours near Inverness. In fact, if you pop along to the Inverness Marina there might just be a boat waiting for you!
Dolphins are incredible animals! It’s a real “bucket-list” activity and something that you can take home with you in memory and with photographs. Dolphins are outstandingly social creatures, they love interacting with other animals and even humans too – make a friend with a dolphin and you’ve made a friend for life! There’s really no reason to not go on a dolphin tour while you’re in the area.
There are two daily tours you can take; there is a morning and afternoon tour leaving from the marina. The morning tour departs at 10am and the afternoon tour departs at 1:30pm. Depending on the time of year you choose to visit, there may be an evening tour too, though the times are not confirmed. The tours are also reliant on good weather; unfortunately if the weather doesn’t permit a trip you might just have to leave it for another day.
Before boarding the boats, you will be seated to watch a brief video explaining what you may and may not do, safety procedures and how to have fun on the trip without any hindrances.
Unfortunately not, the dolphins are protected by the Dolphin Space Program and during the entirety of the trip reaching out to touch any of the wildlife you’re taken to see is prohibited. Any breaching of these conditions may result in disciplinary or even legal action. Though this may seem disappointing the trip takes you across to Chanonry point where you can view the wildlife from a safe distance for both yourselves and the animals. If you’re lucky they might even take you around to see the colony of seals before heading back to the dock at Inverness.
