At Achnagairn, we love weddings that bring different worlds together. There's something incredibly special about seeing two cultures side by side over a weekend - each with its own traditions, each with its own atmosphere, but all part of the same love story.
Meera & Ross's wedding was a perfect example of that. A joyful, colourful, emotional celebration blending Indian and Scottish traditions in the most personal of ways.
They chose Achnagairn because they wanted somewhere that could host everything in one place. With exclusive use of the castle and estate, their guests didn’t just attend the wedding - they were part of it from start to finish. No taxis, no rushing between venues. Just time together, surrounded by beautiful Highland scenery and the buzz of something truly unique.

The first day focused on Meera’s Indian heritage, beginning with a traditional Hindu ceremony held outdoors in front of the castle. The Baraat was a standout moment: Ross arriving to the sound of dhol drums and bagpipes, with guests dancing their way through the grounds.
“There was so much energy” said Ross, “it really felt like both cultures coming together.” A beautifully adorned mandap framed the couple, with a burst of colour in Angela Hunter's florals against Achnagairn's stone arch. Guests gathered on the lawn, dressed in vibrant saris and sherwanis, to witness the ceremony. The ceremony was filled with symbolic moments: the tying of the knot, the sacred fire, and the seven steps taken together.
Afterwards, the lawn became a space for mingling and celebration, with a glorious marquee set up on the grounds where everyone gathered for a lively evening reception. Guests were treated to an Indian feast, followed by dancing, speeches and music that carried long into the night. It was a day full of spirit, joy and connection.

Day two brought a change in pace and a soft elegance. The couple held a Scottish ceremony in the vaulted ballroom, with flickering candlelight and soft music setting a romantic tone. Ross wore Highland dress, while Meera changed into a flowing white gown. A harpist played as Meera walked down the aisle, and vows were exchanged beneath the vaulted ceiling.
Guests then enjoyed a formal wedding breakfast in the ballroom, transformed with floral centrepieces and candlelight. Speeches brought laughter and tears, and the evening finished with a ceilidh, followed by a performance from the Rockettes band. It was classic, warm, and heartfelt—a beautiful contrast to the previous day but equally meaningful.
“The ballroom was like stepping into a fairytale... so regal. Gold accents, ivory flowers made it feel truly royal.”

The whole weekend felt entirely like them. Nothing felt forced. It was one of those weddings where everyone could feel how much thought had gone into it, blending cultures effortlessly: an Indian wedding in Scotland and a Scottish wedding with a Highland twist.
With its unique feel, the wedding was featured on The Wedding Edition to inspire other couples.
