Experience the magic of Scotland with a three day, exclusive use wedding

There is something magical about Scotland. Something instantly evocative. Something at the same time historical and adventurous; natural and wild.

As a destination wedding location, it’s slightly different to saying ‘I do’ on the white sands of a Grecian beach, but boy is a Scottish wedding a uniquely memorable experience.

There are plenty of reasons to consider a destination wedding in the Highlands:

Reasons to consider a destination weddings in Scotland

Head back to your roots

Many of our clients will live abroad but have family or history back here in Scotland, particularly in the Highlands. Some couples met in Scotland and then went further afield. Some still have their parents or grandparents living in the Highlands.

A destination wedding gives you the chance to return for a longer period of time to get everyone together, and build in a holiday too. For friends and family coming from further afield, planning moments and activities to truly experience the magic of Scotland and its rich history can be a real joy. Whether that's by sampling local whisky, trying your hand at Highlands games, or ensuring everyone is wearing kilts for the festivities, your group is guaranteed a lot of fun!

Break the mould

Weddings should be unique and spectacular. However, when so many friends are also getting married around the same time, a destination wedding can be a uniquely memorable way of standing out from the crowd.

Take the time to really enjoy it

A destination wedding is an excellent way to get the people you love most all on a fantastic holiday together! All weddings at Achnagairn are at least two days, but often, those coming for destination weddings choose to extend this to three. This leaves time to help all your friends and family meet and mingle, and build in time for activities to make the experience truly memorable for everyone.

Blend your traditions

Scotland has traditions aplenty, but that shouldn't be a reason not to bring some of your own. Mix a piper with traditional dancing; blend tartans with other dress. Make your destination wedding the true reflection of you.

And there are even more reasons to explore Achnagairn as your destination wedding venue in Scotland:

01

A castle with no compromises!

There are many castles in Scotland, but some are so historic that they can be dark and damp. Achnagairn is a castle with no compromises. It is a castle, complete with turrets and ballroom, but it is beautifully and decadently done up. Have all modern amenities, without compromising on history or character.

02

A historic ballroom

Achnagairn’s ballroom is unique in all the highlands, and works extremely hard on a wedding day! It is a magical place for the ceremony, decked out with flowers; glorious for the meal, seating up to 170 comfortably, and a brilliant location for dancing the night away.

02

Something for everyone

every bedroom on the estate is totally unique. Each has its own name and theme and there is something for every member of the family. Allocating rooms is a lot of fun! Achnagairn can sleep up to 55 people in the castle in 24 bedrooms, or up to 140 people on the full estate! If your guests all come from afar, you don’t have to worry about coordinating a number of different accommodation options to host everyone!

Easily accessible

only half an hour from Inverness airport and at the gateway to the highlands, Achnagairn is perfectly placed for those coming from further afield.

02

Gorgeous grounds

the fantastic grounds at the castle are the perfect place for wonderfully Scottish experiences like Highland Games. Get all your friends and family together the day before or after the wedding to try tossing the caber!

02

A model designed with longer weddings in mind

At Achnagairn, we think you need time to properly drink in your wedding, and for that reason, weddings always last at least two nights with us. Have all your friends together on the first evening for a light dinner and to all get to know each other. Have an amazing extravaganza on the wedding day itself, and see everyone off the next morning.
