One thing we can say about Aberdeenshire, is that it is full of surprises. Known primarily for its fairytale appearance and grand architecture, the Crathes Castle is also home to the adventure forest course, Go Ape. A great day out and ideal for a healthy dose of adrenaline, Go Ape at Crathes Castle is fun for all the family.

Equipped with zip wires, totalling in length 125 metres and high-rope crossings of 92 metres, it’s a day out that’s certainly not for those faint of the heart. If you feel like tapping into your inner child, there are also Tarzan-style swings to help relive the childhood sensation of flying through the jungle.

Surrounded by fairytale turrets and gargoyles of “Harry Potter” worthiness, a trip around the course is also an excellent way to take in the truly magnificent beauty of Crathes Castle. A short distance away from Aberdeen too, finding your way to the Go Ape course is fuss-free and simple.

Be aware, due to the nature of the tree top course a minimum age of 10 years and height of 1.4m tall is required, and there is a maximum weight restriction of 20.5 stone. However, there’s always the option to take part in the Junior Tree Top adventure if your children are between ages 6 and 10 and over 1 metre tall.

With the local walks near the Go Ape at Crathes Castle site, your day is sure to be action packed from start to finish.
