Scotland is the home of golf and Achnagairn lies in the very heart of the prime golfing area . There are golf courses of all levels to test your skills. Achnagairn has links with many golf courses and we are always delighted to put packages together to suit a golfing party.
Castle Stuart Golf Links (hosts of the Barclays Scottish Open 2011) is less than a half hour drive from the house. As Turnberry is to Ayrshire and Gleneagles is to Perthshire, Castle Stuart has been conceived to be for the Highlands – a beacon reaching out to golfers throughout the world. Here is a championship links course overlooking the Moray Firth and well-known landmarks that are synonymous with Inverness and the Black Isle such as Kessock bridge and Chanonry Lighthouse . Achnagairn House is within easy reach and provides an ideal base from which to experience this unusual and prestigous course. See http://www.castlestuartgolf.com for further details.
If your prefer something more traditional then the Inverness Golf Course is a splendid parkland course with tree lined fairways and provides an excellent test of golf for all levels of player. Being only a mile from Inverness, this course provides opportunities even closer to Achnagairn House (about 15 minutes)- see www.invernessgolfclub.co.uk.
Then there's the Aigas golf course, located in one of the most beautiful glens in the Highlands, again very accessible from Achnagairn House. This is a nine-hole course with large greens and undulating fairways. Holiday clients and golfing visitors receive a warm welcome - see www.aigas-holidays.co.uk for booking details. Another good local course is www.nairngolfclub.co.uk.
Transportation between Achnagairn and all the above courses can be easily arranged, upon request. For larger golfing parties, luxurious accommodation, fine dining (or whatever suits you!) and a warm welcome are on offer at Achnagairn House - please contact us for further details.
